14 Thaksin University Poverty Alleviation Operation Model (OM) in the Lower Southern Area Thaksin University’s Research and Development Institute has been sharing its experience in poverty alleviation in the southern provinces of Thailand, including Phatthalung, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The institute has also been conducting a study of poverty alleviation in Phatthalungat Varni Southern Wickery in Phanang Tung, Khuan Khanun District. The study process includes pattern design, product development, and Krajood dyeing from natural materials. The director of Varni Southern Wickery shared that cooperating with the practical skill training in the vulnerable group for more than three months has given the members of the group increased income. The representative of Program Management Unit Area Based Development (PMU A) suggested developing the poverty OM from area-based work, including the results of data analysis in the specifics of poverty-solving working in the southern area. This suggestion helped the researcher get the conceptual ideas and the way to solve poverty problem in a comprehensive and systematic way in the southern province. Thaksin University also supports the Krajood sewing machine used by the vulnerable group in the Krajood pattern design under the brand named “LENOI CRAFT”.
