20 Thaksin University The University of Social Innovation: New Life, New Gain Research to Commercial Products for Better Well-being Thaksin University aims to play a role of the University of Social Innovation, integrating theoretical concepts and theories to bring wisdom and knowledge to reach international standards for sustainable development, better well-being and quality of life. Thaksin University therefore aims to: 1) provide education for manpower development to drive national development focusing on social innovation and entrepreneurship 2) conduct research in spatial development to Phatthalung Sangyod rice is one of main research focuses conducted by Thaksin University researchers as it is a species of rice consisting of high vitamin B and zinc that are good for health and skin. It is a raw material to produce food and cosmetic products. This is a project to encourage independent farmers. Sangyod rice processing helps generate added value community products that enables to increase employment rate, educate local people, and sustainably upgrade the grassroot economy. develop technology and innovation emphasizing the development of life quality, economy, society, environment, entrepreneurship, and increase of competition capabilities 3) give academic services and transfer knowledge, technology, and innovation for spatial development 4) develop social innovation based on arts, culture, or local wisdom to preserve cultural arts and upgrade life quality of people in the communities
