26 Thaksin University Water Conservation Thaksin University has partnered with the local community in Banpraw, Pa Phayom District, Phatthalung, to implement water conservation measures. The university has provided the community with access to water resources from the dam to support agricultural activities. CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION 6 Water Management Thaksin University has a surface water source used for producing sufficient tap water for consumption in the ponds that contain 340,736 square meters. The university also has reserve water storage tanks in several buildings to ensure a steady supply of water. In addition, the university has a wastewater treatment system in place to treat wastewater before being discharged into the surrounding environment. Thaksin University commits to conserve water and has implemented a number of water conservation activities, including: • using water-saving sanitary ware • creating awareness of economical water use • regularly checking and maintaining the water pipe system to reduce water loss • randomly collecting samples for water quality analysis • maintaining the wastewater treatment system
