9 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESEARCH AND INNOVATION Due to the recent rapid changes and new trends in the world regarding the Asian countries, free flow of products and capital, social change, global warming, natural disasters, alternative energy, and information technology, including the 12 th Economic and Social Development Plan aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), national restructure, and national reform in Thailand, there have been changes in terms of economy and society, natural resources and environment, fast technological changes, population transfer among ASEAN countries, and other global changes. The main mission of Thaksin University focuses on teaching, research, academic services, and cultural preservation to generate expertise that is beneficial for the development of society, community, and environment, including hastening manpower development and high potential graduate development to create knowledge and analyze problems leading to the creation of new knowledge for sustainable utilization based on Sufficient Economy Philosophy and the university philosophy, “Intelligence and Ethics Guide Development.” Because of the mission mentioned above, Thaksin University set the administrative milestones to drive the university towards achieving its goal of becoming the University of Social Innovation, focusing on research output creation to develop technology and innovation for spatial development and increase national competitive ability, leading to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
