52 Thaksin University Bighead (Arius maculatus) Catfish The selection of Thaksin University’s target area for establishing a community research center in Chong Thanon Subdistrict: Sustainable Management of Bighead Catfish Resources in Chong Thanon Subdistrict, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung Province, reflects a commitment to promoting economic growth alongside the sustainable conservation of natural resources. The project also focuses on adding value to bighead catfish through the development of processing techniques, such as reducing the fishy smell and rancidity, to create diverse and appealing products that meet consumer demand and increase household income within the community. Additionally, it aims to develop modern marketing approaches, reducing reliance on middlemen, thereby promoting economic sustainability. Raising community awareness for the conservation of local aquatic resources helps fishermen recognize the importance of the ecosystem and fishing practices that do not negatively impact the environment. At the same time, developing community innovators to pass on knowledge about bighead catfish will support sustainable conservation and resource management. For operations under the Chong Thanon Subdistrict Community Research Center: Sustainable Bighead Catfish Resource Management in Chong Thanon Subdistrict, Khao Chaison District, Phatthalung Province, in the fiscal year 2023, the project focused on knowledge management and technology transfer for sustainable utilization of bighead catfish resources and upgrading products for commercial purposes. The project aimed to establish sustainable resource utilization practices for bighead catfish within the community.
