57 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Academic Seminars Thaksin University values the exchange of knowledge and academic ideas, and therefore organized an academic seminar on ‘Law and the Establishment of Local Knowledge (Southern Thailand).’ This seminar was held by the Bachelor of Arts in History program and the Doctor of Philosophy in Cultural Studies program, Thaksin University’s Institute of Southern Thai Studies. Policies and Social Engagement Thaksin University, through the Faculty of Law, has implemented policies and procedures to engage local stakeholders in addressing social issues in collaboration with the community through various projects and activities. The university provides services such as a legal clinic, a public dispute mediation center, a business and intellectual property law center, and an ethnolaw center. Particularly, it encourages public participation in managing and mediating disputes regarding the use of university land at the Phatthalung campus (Pa Phayom District and Phanang Tung Subdistrict). Academic discussions offer a platform for individuals with diverse perspectives to debate and discuss important issues about land use within legal boundaries set by the university. The university’s ability to facilitate such discussions on political topics is crucial, enabling it to bring in academic experts to influence local political decisions to benefit society effectively. The university also fosters community engagement through activities that build goodwill with the surrounding community, while creating jobs, promoting careers, and assisting in the development and enhancement of community products.
